Rigid Overlay Catenary

The Rigid Overhead Catenary System (ROCS) can replace the flexible OHE in the following areas with advantages as described below: –

AREA OF APPLICATION

  • Tunnel having inadequate head room including FOBs/ROBs/Station area and any other location.
  • Where the provision of Auto-tensioning device (ATD) is difficult
  • In metros, where we can easily install supports
  • In maintenance depots

ADVANTAGES

  • System suitable and adapted to reduced height tunnels and for particular outdoor installations.
  • The absence of mechanical tension allows having a contact wire with longer live and greater wear.
  • Large cross section (more current carrying capacity, no additional feeders required).
  • Reduces the maintenance cost, as well as an important quantity of spare parts and components to stocks and handle, compared to the flexible OHE.
  • Suitable for any condition, i.e. high train frequencies, polluted air, saline atmosphere, humidity, high and low temperatures.
  • Less repairing cost as it involves replacement of affected part only

It is formed by an aluminium alloy profile, which accommodates the copper contact wire, with a great cross section for the current that allows many operative ROCS voltages from 750V (DC) to 25000 V (AC), without any feeding supply.

RDSO has circulated Instruction/Guidelines (No. TI/IN/0041) for adoption of ROCS of any national or international standard shall be followed.

TRAINANCE has globally executed ROCS work for different application as described above.
