Automated Wagon Loading Arrangement with Retractable Rigid Catenary (RRCS):

Prior to “Mission Electrification”, diesel locos were operating under SILO/Surge Hopper and accordingly the system of loading was designed with fixed type Swing chute. In response to Mission Electrification resulting to phasing out of diesel loco, it becomes imminent to adopt suitable technology where TRAINANCE in association with ARCON INDIA, as an exclusive design house became instrumental in pioneering the system of automated wagon loading arrangement.

Under PMO’s mission of 100% Electrification of all sidings wherein SILO/SURGE Hopper loading and Wagon Tippler unloading arrangement is involved, TRAINANCE initiated deriving the automated wagon loading/unloading solution equipped with Retractable Rigid Catenary System(RRCS), Rigid Overhead Catenary System (ROCS),S&T, PA System & Centralized PLC synchronization with weigh bridge and rapid loading  system etc. with provision of telescopic cum traversing chute replacing the arrangement with existing swing/telescopic chute .

Proposal was initiated by the concerned official of material handling contractor and TRAINANCE as far back in 2014. After series of deliberation, and necessary modification in consultation with Indian Railway, CMPDIL, CIL and Railway Consultants, a composite failsafe proposal was submitted to RDSO in 2016 which was subsequently approved and circulated by RDSO as the latest scheme (SCHEME-IV) in the year 2017 to all concern authorities for adoption of the system.   The above system was further clarified by RDSO to TRAINANCE as well as to all Zonal Railways referring Guide Line TI/IN/0041 for compulsory adoption of ROCS in tunnels in particular and RRCS in sidings and depots.

TRAINANCE is having the largest global reference of around 100 projects especially in SNCF, France network, the standard of which is followed by Indian Railway (ACTM GUIDE LINE- Chapter- I for 25 KV AC Electrification) was selected by the all authorities for devising the Automated Wagon Loading/Unloading arrangement.

AREA OF APPLICATION: –

  • Dusty environment as prevailing in loading/unloading zone of rake.
  • Loading zone of mines, port and plant area
  • Un-Loading zone in wagon tippler area

Besides the above following advantages can be attained by using RRCS: –

  • Speedy and controlled evacuation, resulting to increase in revenue generation of mines due to reduction in turn-round time
  • Avoidance of demurrage charges
  • Spillage free loading
  • Advantage of EOL system which is economical for the siding owner
  • Less loading and unloading time for complete rake as it is totally controlled by PLC operation
  • Less manpower involvement as the system is fully automated
  • Less inventory
